Dave´s litte Yamadori Larch

Hi fellows,

this may not be my own yamadori - but anyway, I would like you to show the fast progression of this kind of species. I´m impressed how it´s possible to get a respectable litte bonsai-candidate out of this kind of raw material in such a short timeframe.

That´s how the Larch looked in March 2008, right after collecting:

Well, the tree hasn´t been touched the whole season through (2008) so it hasn´t been cut back at once. It showed such a strong growth, that Dave and I easily decided to take it to a workshop to Pius Notter in Boswil, Switzerland. The class was lead by the famous German bonsai-shaper "Michael WILHELM", who helped Dave with the very first shaping.

In May 2009 the branches already started to grow into the wire, so Dave had to put it down again. Surprisingly these 3 months of wiring were enogh to hold the main branches fairly in position.

Even the wound recovery is superfast! You can readily compare the following 2 pic´s with each other.

Callus-development in May 2009

... and now:

Finally the current images after the cut-back and wire works. The next step is going to be repotting the larch into a porous substrate. The purpuse is to slow down the growth and to keep the larch longer in shape.

What is Dave´s decision going to be for the larch´s new pot or bowl???
