Fagus Sylvatica Update

It´s now 2 years ago, since I´m taking care for this little tree. I bought this one as well from Jürg Rufer in Switzerland. Pot by Peter Krebs, Germany.

Pinus Mugo Update

This mugo was one of my first collected trees at all. I dug her up in September 2008 and now I´m quite satisfied to see her in such great condition! It has almost finished with vegetation period and I´m surprised to see so many new buds. Just a perfect prediction for 2010 :)

Maybe I´ll take this mugo to a workshop already in spring 2011 ...

New Azalea Japonica

Yehaaa, that´s the newbie in my collection! Well, it looks like an inconspicuous bush ....

... but when you put the branches aside, you´re able to have a look at the nebari and taper.

Hell, I couldn´t resist - so I had to cut some unnecessary branches away and clean the nebari with a toothbrush.

BE AWARE - THAT´S NOT THE BASIC SHAPEMENT! The whole program will be accomplished in spring!

Monkeys in Jürg & Jana Rufer´s Garden

It was an interesting, funny but HOT Wednesday in Switzerland - the native country from Jürg Rufer.

His welcome was very friendly! He sacrificed a few hours for us showing and talking about trees and his experiences. We got to know his lovely wife Jana (she´s taking care of his bonsais, while he´s working pretty hard on some other projects).

Because we were too occupied with too much talking and because it was getting already late, we didn´t get to see that much of his trees. ==> Too bad, some other time!

Each, Dave and me bought a small azalea for a very attractive price :)

The difference between women and men talk ;-)

Women: "Oh Lord ... these guys are incredible! They are spending too much time with their trees ..."

Men: "Bonsai, bonsai, bonsai ...." ;-)

Huge Mugo Cascade

My father and me found this gigantic mugo a couple of weeks ago. I really have a penchant for such naturalistic cascades!

Accident while hunting Yamadori

I have never thought that something like this could ever happen to me. The big mistake was underestimating the mountains!

I slipped and fall approx. 10 meters down the rocks and I dislocated my shoulder pretty badly. The pain was so strong that I wasn´t able to move, breathe and far from standing up and trying to get to the car.

Thank´s god, I had my wife and 2 friends with me and they arranged everything to get me as quick as possible to the hospital. There was no other way to bring me down except with rescue helicopter.

My advice to you all, my bonsai fellows:

"If you´re planning on going to the mountains, be sure you never go alone and keep your handy always in your pocket!"
