Carpinus Betulus

I found this hornbeam in March 2009 in Wolfgang Käflein´s garden. A few days later I decided to remove an ugly root from the frontside of the trunk. As you can see, I even hollowed the trunk out with some chisels.




In December 2009 the tree received the first styling and after posting some pictures in German "bonsai fachforum" I triggered a real religious war. If you´re interested in reading, you can readily follow this link:

Today I decided to repot the hornbeam into the new bowl. I find that´s quite exciting, because with this step you´re able to change the whole charisma.

The new substrate consists of Fibotherm, Akadama, peat and a little bit dried mykorrhiza.
