Visiting Wolfgang Putz

Last Saturday my wife and I went to Upper Austria to the beautiful garden of Wolfgang Putz. We knew his trees only from his home page on internet. So we decided to go there and to get to know him personally. It was really a pleasure to meet such a friendly and interesting person with lovely parents!

We have been at several bonsai gardens already, but the welcome at his place was definitely the kindliest we have ever experienced! We are still all of a tizzy!

The quality of his collection is just stunning! I´m strongly impressed about his professionality and knowledge with bonsai and petrified woods.

Thank you for the great time with you and your family, Wolfgang! We just loved it!

I can hardly wait to see the inital styling of this very promising spruce! That´s gonna be a hammer!!!

  1. Looking at the pictures I fully understand that you are happy with the visit to this fantastic bonsai garden! All the red colours...
One question: the tree in the last picture - did you talk anything about it? I mean about the big round "beginning" of the tree?

  2. Anna you got it :) The last picture is very special! Wolfgang asked us: "What do you see in this tree?"
After a few moments we identified a swan! Can you also see it?

    Nice Regards,
    Igor

  5. When you say so - yes I see the swan! (Funny because I also have a swan of my own, a picea.) But why I asked is because I have a tree with a similar round bump or ballshape from which the trunk grows out, and I have been advised to try and hide it behind branches and needles. That is: hide the very point where the thick and thin parts join.
So it was interesting to see your picture of this tree.
