I think it´s very difficult to estimate the age of Mugos but the rough bark, the wounds and especially the diameter of the trunc - considering that the tree was originaly in very poor soil and high altitude - makes me guess its age > 2 centuries (very carefull assumption!). When cutting back other Mugos I had a look at the annual rings of the branches - they are always VERY nerrow and therefore challenging to count. Next time I´ll give it a closer look to make more accurate statements! I must say, I was never much interested into the exact age of my trees - but you made me curious! I´ll do some research in that field ;-)
