I would appreciate, if anybody could possibly figure out the Latin description of this pine.
I bought it 2 years ago in a local bonsai nursery and it needed that long to recover. Because it was there already in a very bad condition, I got it almost for free. It was a long way to recall it to life ...
And now, I´m not sure if it is a
a) Japanese white pine (pinus pentaphylla)
b) Japanese red pine (pinus densiflora) or a
c) Pinus Cembra
The color of the bark is silver gray and even the older needles are light green.

Cross off the red pine, since those are a two needle pine, and you have a five needle pine here.
AntwortenLöschenRight. So it seems to be the cembra pine ... ???
AntwortenLöschenIt´s also no Japanese white pine, because it has no bluely and grayish needles.
Thank you for advice!
Yeah, I'm not familiar with the cembra pines whatsoever, but it didn't look like a Japanese white to me either!
AntwortenLöschenWell, so there is nothing else for it.
AntwortenLöschenThe habitat from cembra pines are the Alps in Central Europe and the Carpathian Mountains in Eastern Europe. The chance to have a cembra is fairly high.
