I have found this prunus in a local nursery. The only thing what caught my eye, was the massive nebari. The upper part is absolutely boring (it´s straight) - that´s why I´m looking forward to create the prospectice crown with only new shoots.
Well, it´s gonna be a long-term project but I´m expecting to get a small and powerful shohin out of it. Such projects are perfect opportunities to improve the horticultural skills.
Hi Bonsai Monkey,Great find. You can make it shorter in February, than the tree will heal better. If I where you,I make the left thick branch the new top.[the third branch from the nebari to the top] You can use the Hans van Meer method in the top,it is difficult to tell what this is. But I will take a try,it is a technique that you hollow out the wood and you leave enough bark on both sides that you can put it together and it heals naturally in a couple off years. But it is better to google the Hans van Meer method, and you see it in drawing and with the explanation from Hans. Greetings Ed
